Dear APSDK Family,
A decade came to an end on the 31st of December. It was the most significant decade in over a century. The way we live, work, eat, travel and entertain changed almost entirely- and our smartphones lead the way. From getting a cab, to ordering groceries, banking to making reservations, everything became just a click away in these last 10 years.
Apple unveiled the world’s first iPad, Instagram was launched, WhatsApp came to India, Uber & Ola made their debut & Netflix was created!
Closer home, some important events were the rise of the Modi wave, and the creation of AAP. The Balakot strikes! Sachin Tendulkar said good bye to cricket, and an indian Kailash Satyarthi won the Nobel peace prize. It was also a decade that saw the gruesome Nirbhaya case! Moments of pride and deep shame for us.But more importantly moments of learning.
And then came Covid 19 & the lockdown!
An unprecedented event which had never been heard or experienced before. In the coming times, instead of saying BC, or AD, we may just use BL & AL, before & after lockdown.
The thing that we are all a part of, it’s living history. Our children are all a part of this, and it will be talked about for generations to come. Schools are closed, shops are shut, people are quarantined……. On a GLOBAL level.
As educators, we are exploring the best ways to communicate with our students online, parents are grappling with turning their living rooms into classrooms, while learning institutions at all levels are faced with finding solutions to expedite the migration from the traditional classrooms to remote learning.
But we truly miss our children!
‘Virtual teaching will never replace the love,
The laughs, the learning, the smiles on students’ faces,
And the “aha” moments that happen in an actual classroom.
The quarantine isn’t a break for teachers,
