Awareness campaign-'Go green Pledge'-‘Waste to Energy Initiative’
Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan Alumni pitch in to make a difference !!!
OSAPS Welfare Association Executive Committee, volunteered to monetarily contribute in a big way towards ‘Waste to Energy Initiative’ ,ie, installation of Biogas Plant in the school, as a noble gesture towards giving back to the alma mater. The Primary aim of this initiative is to sensitize a strength of 4000+ student community towards segregation of waste at source, in sync with the ‘ Global cause : Save the Planet Earth.’
In order to propagate the principle of 3Rs ( Reduce, Recycle & Reuse ), a week long awareness campaign was launched in the school, in the month of Oct., which comprised of taking a ‘ Go Green’ pledge by the whole school in the morning assembly, followed by a mosaic of activities based on experiential learning, on different days of the week. In continuation with the ‘Waste to Energy’ Initiative, the biogas produced is being used in the Hostel Kitchen for cooking & the residual waste of the biogas plant has been instrumental in launching the next big project of ‘Organic Farming’ in the school, in an attempt to create a sustainable cycle.
Besides this, since the waste is being segregated at classroom level, the project of ‘Recycling of paper’ is also underway in the school.
BUT LET US ASK OURSELVES ….. ARE WE DOING ENOUGH…… ????
